The history of Braunkabel
Our cables are currently used around the world. Primarily because the quality is spot on. And because our deliveries are quick and simple, like no one else in the business. Here you can find out why reliability is part of our DNA and how that relates to our history.
1960
Prologue
Artur Braun has been selling electrical model trains for more than ten years. In addition, his company BRAWA in Waiblingen continues to expand its production of model construction accessories: signals and lights, all of which need insulated wires and cables.
1971
Company founding
Cable production has increased to such a degree that Braunkabel splits off from BRAWA as its own company. From this point on, we manufacture cables of all types and cross sections. In the early period, the company focuses on applications within model construction.
1972
Spirit of optimism
Our customers hold Braunkabel’s first product catalogue in their hands. The building in Waiblingen also becomes too small at this time. We acquire property for new facilities in the adjacent municipality of Remshalden/Grunbach.
1996
Formation of the Group
We acquire two companies – in-akustik and Eagle Cable – that supply premium hi-fi components, cables and audio carriers. Braunkabel, BRAWA, in-akustik and Eagle Cable now form the family-managed Braun Group.
2003
Standardised quality
ISO 9001/2000. This is the name of our new certification. It is a prerequisite for acquiring new customers within the industry. We establish ourselves within the area of sensor actuator cabling and supply renowned manufacturers of plug connectors and sensors.
2015
Milestones
We open up a new facility, our third production hall. We now have an additional 1,800 m² available for office space and state-of-the-art cable manufacturing.
2017
New development
We introduce our new BKDATA product range at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg. It includes over ten newly developed data cables for industrial Ethernet and CAN bus.
2018
Quality testing
We have our own test centre, where we subject our Braunkabel cables to a thorough mechanical inspection. It includes a flame chamber, drag-chain testing and torsion testing. We can now supply quality cables even faster. One year later, we add an additional hall to our production and warehouse space.
2021
Jubilee
Our drive has not diminished, even after 50 years. Our jubilee is therefore a reason to celebrate. And a reason to thank our customers, partners and employees for so many good years.
